Surfboard Shaping Class

This is a 1 on 1 class where you learn to build your own surfboard! Get ready to roll up your sleeves and transform foam into the surfboard of your dreams. We will provide detailed instruction of shaping principles and processes, covering everything from familiarization with the shaping bay itself, to tool selection, blank selection, and start to finish shaping. Once shaping is complete you can either take the shaped blank home and glass it yourself, or we will take care of the glassing process for you. *Currently, we do not offer any surfboard glassing classes, as it is a multi-day process that is not easily fit to specific schedules. *

 There will be two class options for shaping your board:

1) Fully hand shaped: In this class you will learn how to hand shape a surfboard from start to finish. It will start with a 1-hour meeting to discuss design, go over templates, and decide what you would like to shape. We have many templates you can choose from, or we can help you make your own. From here we will order your blank and schedule a time for your shaping class. The shaping class is typically 4 to 5 hours and can be scheduled for one day or broken up into two days. At the end of the class, you will have a fully shaped surfboard ready to be glassed.

 2) Design - CNC Cut - Finish Shape: In this class you will learn how to design a surfboard using Shape3d, it will be cut on a CNC machine, and you will learn how to finish shape the CNC cut to perfection. This class will consist of a 2-hour design meeting where we discuss design and teach you the basics of Shape3d. We will help you build your Shape3d file and send it to be milled. From here we will schedule your time in the shaping bay to finish shape your board! This will be another 2 to 3 hour session where you will learn about the shaping bay, the tools, and the process of finish shaping a CNC cut blank.
